.1st Battalion (M) 5th Infantry Regiment
Commemorative Belt Buckle
You may recall that last year the Iraqi Freedom Coin was offered to all members of both the Chapter and the Society. The campaign was successful and well received. As a result of the revenues that were generated by the sale of the coins, the Chapter was able to contribute significant amounts to the 25th Infantry Division Association's scholarship fund. In addition, a sizable cash donation was donated to the regiment for their homecoming festivities for the returning troops.
This year the Bobcat Society would like to make available to members of both the Chapter and the Society a marvelous symbol of the brave and long standing unit in which we all served our country as fighting men and Bobcats of the "First of the Fifth". A portion of the proceeds will go towards the creation of individual memorials and testimonies to our fallen Bobcat brothers.
The buckles are solid brass that is polished to a brilliant sheen and are individually sand cast by a Civil War historian who specializes in buckles and brass accoutrements from that period. They are 2 3/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches with an attachment device on the reverse.
