The Bobcat Society "Gathering" of 2010 will take place in Newport, Rhode Island and will be beautifully hosted by Bruce (Doc) and Jan Cotta.

They've done quite a bit of very hard work on behalf of the Bobcat Society to make this another memorable event you won't want to miss.

This years 'Gathering' will begin with all the greetings and salutations at an exceptional hotel ~ The Best Western Main Stay. This place is well suited for our needs and is fairly close to town. The hotel and its staff promise to be nothing short of terrific. Regardless of any problem, Doc and Jan will make sure everything is just right. This is a great hotel, with a great location and great people,not to mention great hosts. On behalf of the Society I thank all involved with setting this event up for us.

We'll check into the hotel, get a bit of rest ~ then find the bunker to see who else from the Bobcat Society is already there. We could be surprised by some new faces, and welcome them into our fold. Then more of our Brother and Sister 'Bobcats' will get there to greet us with warm, welcoming hugs (a few kisses).

Suggestions might be made to get together as a group for dinner at a local eating place for a special, wonderful treat of a 'Northeastern' meal. Even though we'll have to pay for this on our own, we'll have plenty of good company to enjoy our meal. A special treat may await us at the hotel for the early evening which I can't reveal here because some things are still being worked on.

Thursday ~ 30 Sept 2010

The day will start around 9 AM with a bus tour of Newport and some of the extravagant mansions. Some very incredible estates you won't believe until you see them. Upon the return to the hotel we'll have the Bobbycats Chinese Auction to look forward to. Should be great fun and lots of laughs ~ and pizza is included.

We'll have a little free time then hop a bus for dinner at Flo's. Prime Rib or Seafood that all should find something to their delight. Back at the hotel again and more fun and games with the Bobcat Auction. We're asking you to please bring something for this and the Bobbycats auctions.

Be ready for the bus because we're going to the Naval War college and Museum for a grand tour. Might [no promises] even have a dignitary with us for a great learning opportunity. We'll fit lunch in there somewhere on the way back to the hotel.

As with all organizations we'll have to have the business meeting. Hopefully, his should be short and sweet.

How about a Chinese [or American] buffet at the Batik Gardens. Another meal that should be terrific.

Back at the hotel for more fun with the Shit Burners Award, the Ant Dance and any other presentations. And all this while enjoying the talents of a local DJ for your listening and dancing pleasure.

Memorial Service ~ this year we will be making special honors for one of our own, Donnie Sisson, KIA February 1969.

At the hotel there will be a shuttle available if you want to do your own tour of Newport, with a thank you to Doc and Jan for donating this provision.

Around 6:00 PM bring your appetite for the hotels Buffet Banquet. This will include Sirloin Tips, Baked Scrod, Stuffed Chicken Breasts, vegetables, salad, breads, and all the other extra's you expect.

Who's our Fraggee? After dinner we'll find out. Please bring something for the honoree.
